Un Wanted – Gibb

David Gibb ran unopposed in the last election but promised the following in the election before:  i can see little indication that he has fulfilled these promises in 8 years so why would we expect any difference in the next four??

  • Strong Representation: Basically when it suits him and his issues
  • Maintain the Unique Rural-Urban Balance: Certainly when it comes to promoting tourist activities and increased development
  • Regular inputs by residents into decisions: see his voting record below it does not support this.  if your input is different to his tunnel vision then forget it.
  • Upgrade of Rosebud/McCrae Beach, Foreshore, and Pier Area: I sure do not see it. it is basically the same as when i moved here 12 years ago.
  • Encourage Affordable Tourism: Has certainly done that to the detriment of ratepayers.Looks at little else to improve employment opportunities in the area.
  • Lobby for more frequent public transport: I can only say this is the joke of the decade.
  • Lobby for a one ticket system for public transport to Melbourne:  HAHAHAHJAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Below is a review of David Gibbs recent record of what he stands for reflected by his votes and actions:

  • Votes against transparency
  • Votes against accountability
  • Voted against recording of Council Minutes
  • Votes against community consultation
  • Voted against geo technical survey that now shows $10 million increase in pool costs
  • On the record that “ratepayers should be microchiped and put into a pound”
  • Calls Italians corrupt
  • Currently fighting for a 4 story building in McCrae
  • neglected rosebud foreshore for 12 years to insure a 25 meter white elephant on the foreshore
  • Neglected Rosebud shopping prescient for 12 years in order to insure a 25 meter white elephant on the foreshore
  • Neglected Rosebud Memorial Hall renovations for 12 years in order to insure a 25 meter white elephant on the foreshore
  • Rates rising every year he has been a Councillor.
  • Has not opposed projects causing Shire debt potentially rising to exceed $50M. It will be among the highest of any of Victoria’s 79 councils.
  • Refused to support release Ombudsman’s report on CEO
  • Supported reappointment of the CEO without advertising the post.
  • Rarely supports residents objections to proposed developments.
  • Consistently votes for the proposed Rosebud foreshore pool, despite the site breaching State policy and at a huge cost burden to  Ratepayers.  Refuses to consider any other options
  • Voted against discussing the proposed Rosebud pool at Public Consultation Meetings.
  • Claims that there is “overwhelming” support for the pool on the foreshore even though he has never held a public consultation on the issue to hear what her constituents have to say and that subsequent public forums and petitions dispute.
  • Will not allow recording of meetings between yourself and him and then when he publishes what you talked about it is not even close to the discussion and then refuses to discuss any issues of clarification.
  • Great supporter of Tourism but not that the tourists should pay their way and therefore putting the burden on the ratepayers to pay for the costs they create.
  • Indicated to the VEC representation review that he would not stand for council if Multi-Councillor wards we approved — yet here he is!!
  • Argued with prejudice against Multi-Councillor wards in order to protect his power base. Now we see candidates coming “out of the woodwork” as a result of the VEC not following His flawed thinking.
  • Supported letter from legal firm hired by Mr. Michael Kennedy; DBA, OAM, CEO, “Principal Servant, Practitioner, Expert on Everything and Doctoral Researcher”: Mornington Peninsula’to VEC threatening them with legal action for  bias if they did not rule in favor of CEO, Officer and selected Councillors and keep single Councillor wards.

Just to clarify a comment made. In the 2008 election a Mr Winton nominated for the Rosebud Ward. On the last day before nominations closed he withdrew as there was only he and David Gibb nominated. This lead to David Gibb being elected un-opposed. Clearly a running mate. Don’t know if he got his nomination fee back from the VEC but I suspect not.
What does this tell us about the slimmy inner workings of David Gibb. Time for change.

Mr Joe Bloggs (ex Councillor Reade Smith) and Joe (soon to be outgoing Councillor Celi) should be brave enough to place posts under there real names. Their shameful acts under an alias continue just like they have in Council. Change at Council is coming. Keep up the work exposing this rot. People that are not truthful do not deserve to be in Council. Thankfully, soon we will not have to put up with anymore rubbish coming from Reade Smith’s mouth. Go look at more DVD’s and read more books Mr Smith. Soon you’ll have more time for it.

    What is ‘sustainable development’ ?
I’m over this economic term. That could refer to the monstrous new bottle shop we have… Totally sustainable given they know we are in a low socio economic region with families with issues with alcohol. This whole council is one big empty buzz word!

Below are responses to the headlines that DAVID GIBB is using for his campaign. The back page is even worse and will be addressed later.

David Gibb for “C0MM0NSENSE AND FAIRNESS”: this sentence is an oxymoron.

INDEPENDENT LOCAL CANDIDATE: Big deal so are all the others

NOT A MEMBER OF A POLITICAL PARTY: Nor are any of the others

EXPERIENCED COUNCILLOR: has been around to vote for every rate increase. Voted for every contract renewal for CEO without review. Has been party to most major developments. Has been involved as a Councillor in every decision.

I HAVE LIVED ON THE PENINSULA ALL MY LIFE: And????

I PROMISE CONTINUES STRONG REPRESENTATION: This was a promise in his last campaign 8 years ago and he has carried it out as follows: To the strong special interest groups. States that ratepayers should be micro chipped and put in a pound.

I ENCOURAGE RESIDENTS’ REGULAR INPUT INTO DECISIONS: Votes against public consultation. Holds very few ward meetings to get resident inputs. Has stated publicly that residents inputs are not that important and should be discounted to look at the “whole picture”. marginalizes ratepayer and action group comments and causes by stating that it is only a few activists causing troubles.

MAINTAIN THE UNIQUE RURAL-URBAN BALANCE ON THE PENINSULA: has been in office forever and is a party to the over development of our peninsula.

UPGRADE TOWNSHIP STREETSCAPES AND THE DROMANA PIER: Lucky to know anything at all about what is going on with the Dromana Pier. Has done a really really great job in Rosebud upgrading streetscapes for the last 12 years he has represented Rosebud. NOT! … to busy pushing agenda for 25 meter white elephant on the foreshore to streetscape, maintain memorial hall, and upgrade bowling club

BOOST EMPLOYMENT THROUGH TOURISM & SUSTAINABLE, DEVELOPMENT: Yes to tourism at any cost to our standard of living and certainly yes to developments like the commercial brewery at Cape Schanck.

LOBBY FOR MORE FREQUENT PUBLIC TRANSPORT & MORE TAXIS: yuk yuk yuk. This was on his agenda at election 8 years ago and cannot identify anything he has done (can anyone else??) so why would it be any different for the next four?

BUILD ROSEBUD’S AQUATIC CENTRE AND HYDROTHERAPY POOL: Yes on this. He has spent most of his time campaigning for this at the expense of rosebud streetscaping, memorial hall, and bowling club. Has problems identifying the difference between a warm water pool and a hydrotherapy pool (which is not part of the current plans). Supports Café and Gym to compete with local businesses which are going out of business as it is. We need a net community benefit pool and facilities not a monument.

If any of you have listened to Council meetings, you will know that governance — rather the complete lack of it — is a serious issue for this Council. Making policy on the run, not knowing, let alone following meeting rules, ignoring advice from the CEO, with D. Gibb playing his tricky games — it’s a wonder the Auditor-General has not conducted an audit of the MPSC. But you now have the chance to elect a new set of councillors who hopefully will have some integrity.

You are the crazies and will put the peninsula back 50 years or more..

Luckily one or 2 of you will not make the difference

Lenzo admits he’s a stooge for pittock, and his mates..

    Shame of you all..

The conspiracy will not go unchallenged.. The 9 stooges will be called to account

9 out of 14 candidates all placing gibb and cell 13 and 14 on the preferences .. Pretty obvious

The press will have a field day…

I have no idea who this is but he/she is fun and i will continue to post them so you can all have a laugh. he/she is such a coward he/she cannot even post their real name. but then what would you expect?

actually we have already won as Smith is not running so one of the six is gone. and what conspiracy? the one gibb and celi set up with their preference getting candidates who do not even know who the Councillors are (yes i called them and this is what i found out) ? it is the Australian way!

and i take full credit for the conspiracy…. and for the last minute sign up (At 11:30am) of the real legitimate RAY GIBB (a man of honor)

In case you missed it, the press did have a field day and i encourage you to have them interview me and i will willingly admit to all.

  7. TRISH BARR October 8, 2012 at 10:32 pm Reply

The apathy of people on the Peninsula is frightening – they are going to wake up one day and it will be too late. So many don’t even know who the Councillors are much less what they stand for ( themselves and their egos) certainly not the community they misrepresent.

All of the above examples of destruction can be doubled if you look carefully at the current Councils record. With all of the available resources on the Peninsula, imagine it’s magnificence under proper governance.

Having experienced these Councillors in action, whilst at meetings opposing the Brewery at Cape Schanck – all but Leigh Eustace and Tim Rodgers are frauds – If any part of this beautiful Peninsula is to be saved from destruction; these Councillors; destroying our Community and Environment – particularly the ring leaders; Anne Shaw; Frank Martin and CEO – Michael Kennedy – (with the exception of Eustace & Rodgers ) MUST GO! Leave them there and the Peninsula will be destroyed for ever. We need proactive and genuine representatives – i:e Joe Lenzo

Trish good on ya. keep the passion. i would add Councillor Bev Colomb; Briars Ward, Councillor Lynn Bowden: Watson Ward, and Councillor Graham Pittock: XMayor Seawinds Ward as the other “ggod” guys.

Unfortunately we can not always get concillors who all do exactly what we want and that is why i am running an unelection2012 campaign to try to get rid of the six worst:
       Gibb: Seawinds
       Celi: Seawinds
       Goodrem: Nepean
       Shaw: Briars
 Smith: Cerberus… we already have a wind of 1 as he is not running
       Martin: Red Hill

With a change in these people we all have a chance of getting some Councillors who will at least listen and consider what we want and even the current fantastic five might be more sensitive to our needs and wants and actually empathize with us.

So with some new Councillors replacing some of the frozen minded six with a mind that is even open a crack we are ahead of the game.

Hey Trish, i missed the plug at the end. thanks for that and i, of course, agree. there are some others out there and lets hope it works for them. in Seawinds there is a great chance of getting rid of t leas one of the two that have to go. have you noticed how the preferences in the ward were aligned? i talked to the two listing gibb and celi high on their profile list and neither have much of an idea what is going on.

let’s hope that unelectin2012 helps shift the balance of power to some good canidates.

    • Jenny October 12, 2012 at 10:13 am Reply

Trish. You are absolutely correct! This Council has a long record of not consulting with its ratepayers who, after all, pay the bills. My sister is being forced to pay for her once rural road in the old area of Mt. Martha. Council surveyors were already in the road putting up pegs before the Special Charge Scheme had been decided by Council. My sister was not even advised of the date Council were dealing with it, finding out after the Council meeting that the road was going ahead. Council staff, John Burke, in particular, and his secretary, were extremely rude and said the road would be made and he didn’t care because he was leaving anyway! Anne Shaw is running on the basis that she is “an experienced councillor”. One has to ask “experienced” at what. Democracy is dead on the Mornington Peninsula and as Trish says apathy is the cause.

    Hi Joe,

You are welcome to say you had an email from someone who queried why you are opposing Cr Gibb and cited his excellent record on green wedge protection. That will give you a chance to respond,.
I still wish we had someone like you in our area!!

    ________________________________________
Dear “X” The only green wedge that David gibb is involved in and protecting is the green wedgie he gets up the crack. I think the information below might change your mind on how green wedge he is. And only the tip of his duplicitous iceberg

    Reade this,

Thanks for the comment and I appreciate them (I get a lot actually and most appreciate my jaded, cynical, and sarcastic take on things).

Actually his record is not that good on the green wedge. He speaks a good talk but then walks a very crooked line when It comes putting the pool on the foreshore and he also supports over development of the green wedge and removing the Rosebud Bowling Club from the foreshore.

The main reason I oppose him is that he is against any sort of transparency and accountability and, in my opinion is an arrogant “defamatory expletive”.. See my fact sheet on him. Attached

Specifically on the Green Wedge and his duplicity on the matter:
    • His position has no empathy at all for those who had properties that were of little value to their dreams and expected quality of life when the retroactive green wedge legislation was passed. He refuses to consider any relief for these people who have lost their rights to a prosperous life due to retroactive legislation.

    • The best way to protect the green wedge is to allow a residence on the smaller blocks that were purchased before the legislation. And I agree that there should be some reasonable restrictions placed on these residences… and that only the original owners should have this option.

    • With the new legislations proposed by Mr. Mathew Guy, Minister for Planning. The above option is the only way to stop commercial encroachment on the green wedge. The current myopic and un-prescient thinking on this issue puts the whole green wedge in jeopardy.

    • He is one of the councillors who supported and voted for the commercial brewery on the green wedge at Cape Schanck. It will be a monstrosity with trucks running in an out day and night because the commercial brewery cannot grow what it needs to support itself on the green wedge.

He uses the argument that the property must be of a viable nature and support itself to block any residential homesteads on the green wedge yet is willing to build a multi-million $$$ commercial brewery on green wedge land against the wishes of the local ratepayers and residents who live there.

    • It is alleged that some rich farmers have purchased additional blocks of land that have been sold by residents and ratepayers due to the blocking restrictions placed on green wedge residential developments which are supported by DAVID gibb. I would suggest that any rich farmers who might be a councillor that might vote against green wedge homesteads so that the land can be purchased by rich farmers and maintained as “farm land” certainly would have a conflict of interest and a case should be presented to the Minister of Local Government, The Inspectorate, and The Ombudsman.

    • His position on the Mount Martha Quarry is outrageous There are Aboriginal artifacts at the quarry site. Also plant species that are rare and endangered. There are a pair of Pedigree Falcons who are nesting on the cliff face. This sit MUST be saved. A plan is under way to stop council and DAVID gibb from destruction of this valuable piece of iconic realestate (to them) on the peninsula.

    • And then there is his push in council to “open up the views to the beach from the beach road from Mornington to Sorrento”. And what he is pushing for is the destruction of our wonderful and historic indiginious plant species in order to do this…. There is no other way the view can be “opened up”.

You will not get elected. You are a stooge for pittock

Just acting like an idiot in council meetings, and carrying on, makes most people who see you in operation think you are a joke

gee joebloggs@crapmail.com. the idiots in council meetings are them for the most part. Mayor can’t even get vote counts right on some occasions. i do not mind being a stooge for pittock at least i know what is going on relative to the stooges for celi and DAVID not RAY gibb. have never seen them at a concil meeting to begin with. interesting how the preferences for Sewinds Ward came up. i hope you appreciate the effort i went to to post this chart from my spreadsheet and to make it so clear even you could not fail to figure it out. if you need any help let me know and i will have my 13 year old granddaughter explain it to you. i actually offer this assistance to many of the Councillors and officers when they cannot understand a simple 15 word question.
